Sustainable Travel Plan

Our Whole Town Sustainable Travel Plan was formulated in conjunction with a wide range of local organisations, all with an interest in attracting people to Buxton – and making it easy for them to get around – while also minimising any negative impact on our environment. 

Partners in the project include:  

  Derbyshire County Council (Councillors & Officers) 
  High Peak Borough Council (Councillors & Officers) 
  Derbyshire Police 
  University of Derby 
  Local businesses including Tarmac, Lomas Distribution, Nestle (Buxton Water), HSE Science & Research Centre 
  Local voluntary groups: Buxton Civic Association, Vision Buxton, Transition Buxton, Friends of Buxton Station 

 

A data-gathering exercise of views on travel was undertaken including: 

 

  • A large-scale survey of residents (almost 900 responses) 

  • Visitor survey 

  • Train passenger survey 

  • Local business survey 

  • Traffic data from DCC
