This project began as a means of promoting Buxton as a destination for keen walkers and ramblers – whether they are looking for a stroll around heritage landmarks, or a more challenging hike with spectacular views. It has gone on to extend the adventures to bus passengers – and a booklet of activity days out...
Walks Around Buxton –
a fascinating cultural heritage
Our first walks leaflet – part of a series of 'Walks Around' the High Peak – is the latest step in our campaign to promote sustainable travel.
Featuring 7 walks around interesting and scenic parts of Buxton, it aims to encourage walkers to visit our town by bus and train. With a variety of routes to choose from, all starting from the railway station, cars are not needed!
Adventures on the 442
Our second leaflet (produced in partnership with High Peak Buses) opens up the surrounding countryside to anyone taking the 442 bus between Buxton and Ashbourne.
It offers ideas for different days out, with details of some of the interesting and picturesque villages you can stop off at en route. This can also be downloaded free of charge.
