A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION...

The first signs of progress on our planned Walk & Ride Network are now there for all to see – and enjoy – with the resurfacing of a footpath across Temple Fields.

The project is supported by both district and county councils, which funded the work, enabling the route to be used all year round.

Buxton Town Team – through its Sustainable Travel Group – is supporting an initiative to develop a network of safe routes for walkers, cyclists and in some cases horse riders... as much as possible of it traffic-free.

We need routes that link residential areas with schools, main places of work such as business parks, and also the town centre and shops. We also want safe and pleasant routes for people to leave the town and link in with existing cycle trails and footpath networks... all with the aim of making it easier, safer and a more pleasant experience for people to walk or ride instead of using cars.

There are grants available to support our plan and once we’ve agreed the routes and worked out the cost of getting each one up to the required standard we’ll be applying for funding.
